Recall Summary

Due to a software issue, certain 2021-2023 Volkswagen vehicles may experience center displays and instrument panel displays that do not boot, or that sporadically reset. This can result in loss of speedometer information or loss of rearview camera image. Vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard numbers 101 (Control and Displays) and 111 (Rear Visibility). Campaign code was applied May 17, 2024.

Safety Consequence

Potential Safety Risk

Loss of speedometer display prevents the driver from knowing vehicle speed, complicating safe vehicle operation. Loss of rearview camera image eliminates rear visibility while in reverse, increasing risk of backing accidents. Display resets can cause temporary loss of critical driving information.

Remedy / Fix

What Will Be Done

The remedy involves performing a vehicle software update. Beginning January 2025, this software update became available Over-the-Air (OTA) for certain vehicles. Owner notification for OTA availability took place via email beginning in December 2024.
